How do you backup WordPress on Cloud Sites?

You can backup WordPress by using phpMyAdmin to backup the Maria database that you created for WordPress. From here, follow the WordPress tutorial for backing up your database. Another option is the paid backup service through Jetpack, which also includes many other great features. (Our Managed WordPress plans include Jetpack for free.) There are also many free WordPress plugins that can allow you to backup your site and database as well, including WP DB Manager, and UpdraftPlus.

Note: Please keep an eye on your storage (disk space) usage. Most plugins have options to send backups to a remote location like Dropbox; be sure to double-check that your backup plugin of choice is setup to remove older backups. For UpdraftPlus go to UpdraftPlus ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Show expert settings’ > select ‘Delete local backup’ and make sure to click the ‘Save Changes’ after. This will tell UpdraftPlus to automatically delete the backups on your server once the backups are successfully sent to your remote storage.
