We do not offer any kind of mailing list services. Here are a few things to consider if you are planning on setting up a mailing list:
- We do not allow the installation of any mailing lists scripts or mailing lists that are generated from a database. There are several reasons for this including the possible negative impact on our mail server’s performance and the potential for spam related issues. In general, we do not allow any form of mass mailing from our mail server or any other kind of high-volume mailing activity.
- We suggest that you use a mailing list service.
We highly recommend Beehiiv. It's what we use for the Laughing Squid blog.
Here are some other email list services: Ghost, MailerLite, MailChimp, ConvertKit, Google Groups, Constant Contact, and Campaign Monitor. Some of these services allow you to use a subdomain (i.e. lists.yourdomain.com) and provide you with a DNS entry for our nameserver. Many of these services have fairly advanced list functionality, including digest options, and custom headers and footers etc. Often they will provide you with code that you can embed on your website so people can subscribe/unsubscribe. - Some ISPs offer email list services. Check with your ISP and see if they offer that kind of service.
Note: DO NOT use our SMTP service to send out mailing lists or any other kind of mass mailing. Every time you do, a kitten dies. Please, think of the kittens. Also, you will be in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy and could have your hosting suspended.
